Pans 'n Roses We are five enthusiastic ladies whose passions include playing the steel pan. We learned to play steel pan at PanKultur in Dortmund and played gigs as members of the full orchestra and “Pan-around-the-Neck-Band”. Approximately six years ago we had the idea to establish a female steel band. We started with eight members and as time progressed, three members left due to other commitments and we are now five committed and enthusiastic members and morale in the group is stronger than ever. We are supported by friends both in Germany and other parts of Europe, who made arrangements for and held workshops with us. One of them is Jürgen Bruhn, band member of Suriya, and Wilf Hohenkirk, Phase5 UK Steelband based in Kent/UK who is doing workshops with us. We are now able to play our own repertoire. For many years we participated in the Notting Hill Carnival in London with the ‘Pan-around-the-Neck’ Nostalgia Steelband playing music arranged by Sterling Betancourt. We continue to support Nostalgia Steelband and look forward to playing with them every year. We are available to play at birthday parties, weddings, Christmas parties, street parades and other functions. Just contact us with your requirements and we are sure that we will be able to work something out. Our repertoire consists of up-tempo tunes for dancing or soft melodies for dreaming of those far away tropical places.
